Preserving the beauty of Rural America

Meet The Artist

Hello, I’m Edward Wade, a watercolor artist with a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of rural America.

For years I’ve traveled back roads with my camera, drawn to weathered barns that many people pass without a second glance. Their faded paint, worn timbers, and leaning walls tell stories of hard work, perseverance, family, and a simpler way of life. Although time has left its mark on them, their beauty has never disappeared.

Every painting begins with one of my own photographs. Back in my studio, I transform those moments into watercolor, seeking not only to capture what the barn looked like, but also the feeling it stirred within me. My hope is that each painting invites you to pause, reflect, and rediscover the beauty that can still be found in forgotten places.

Forgotten Barn Beauty is more than a collection of paintings. It is my way of preserving these rural treasures before they are lost to time and of honoring the memories they represent. If these pages encourage you to slow down, take the scenic route, or see an old barn with fresh eyes, then this project has fulfilled its purpose.

Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you. I hope these paintings and stories bring warmth, inspiration, and a renewed appreciation for the enduring beauty that still stands quietly across the countryside.

Why Forgotten Barns

Every old barn has a story.

Some have stood for more than a century, sheltering livestock, storing harvests, and witnessing generations of families who worked the land. Though many now sit quietly along country roads, weathered by time and often overlooked, they continue to speak of perseverance, craftsmanship, faith, and hope

My passion is to preserve these remarkable places before they disappear. I photograph them, study their character, and then bring them to life in watercolor—not simply to record their appearance, but to honor the memories they represent.

My hope is that Forgotten Barn Beauty encourages you to slow down, take the scenic route, and discover that some of life’s greatest beauty is found in places the world has nearly forgotten

In Our Customers Words

Words from those who’ve welcomed art into their lives.

“I bought Forgotten Barn Beauty because it reminded me of the country life where I grew up.

As I turned each page, I found myself slowing down. The barns weren’t just old buildings—they were a way of life that deserves to be remembered.

Tayler Richmond

“I purchased Forgotten Barn Beauty because I love watercolor art and barns.

The artwork is fantastic, but it was the stories that got me. I was picturing the families who worked in these barns.

Cecily Moody

I bought Forgotten Barn Beauty because I wanted something relaxing to read after seeing one of Edward’s paintings online.

Every page helped me appreciate the relaxed side of life. The paintings are beautiful, but I love the stories that open my imagination.

THE PROCESS

Every Step begins with a barn

My process begins with a feeling. There is something about the beauty of the old and rustic that captures my attention — the weathered wood, faded paint, and signs of time that tell a story. These forgotten barns inspire me to stop, sketch, and study the character that makes each one unique.

Through watercolor, I try to capture more than just the barn itself. I want to preserve the memories, emotions, and quiet beauty found in these aging structures. Each painting is my way of honoring the past and keeping the stories of these forgotten places alive.
